Application deadline is June 1, 2023. Program activities include virtual conversations about a wide range of topics, home visits, creative activities, and tech assistance. Fortunately, because not all kids have the same interests, NYC summer internships come in various formats, paid and unpaid, regular and intermittent, educational and creative, with some also offering school or volunteer credit. Interns may manage small groups or work with students one-on-one to help with academic skills and model good behavior. Even if they dont have a structured program, they may offer you an internship because of that local connection. This intensive in-person program is administered by the NYC DOE Office of Arts and Special Projects in collaboration with a group of leading cultural organizations: Lincoln Center, Weill Institute of Music at Carnegie Hall, Harlem School for the Arts, NY Philharmonic, Studio in a School, and Julliard. Students will be able to access different templates and language to consider when drafting a resume. If you stick with the program, each year you will move up a tier (you will start in Tier 1 as an 8th or 9th grader, then move up to Tier 2 the next year, and so on). Interns can participate in either research or experiential learning while working with a mentor at the NASA site. Then, to create your products, youll work with like-minded peers at LaunchX while learning from industry experts. Depending on the project, students will learn a variety of skills, like working with DNA in the lab, analyzing data from space based telescopes, reading scientific articles, and learning to code and analyze data in Python, R, and other programming languages. As you commit to summer internships for high schoolers, you should know precisely how an internship works.
